The St. Louis Rams could replace one former Heisman Trophy winner with another. Or they could pass on Tim Tebow the way several quarterback-needy teams have to this point.
Rams starting quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a potentially serious knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers. And according to NFL Network's Michael Silver, the team at least has discussed internally the possibility of signing Tebow.
Now don't get too lathered up. Clearly from reading that, the possibility of signing Tebow is still remote. The Rams might fear the worst for Bradford, who could be done for the season, but they are not apparently ready to pull the trigger on Tebow yet.
After all, he might not be in football shape at this moment. Tebow has been spotted vacationing in Hawaii and hasn't taken a snap since the preseason finale as a member of the New England Patriots.
But the Rams will need to sign a quarterback, perhaps two. Kellen Clemens is the only QB on the roster, and there are none on the practice squad, either. The free-agent options are drying up quickly, and by the time they scour the possibilities ... who knows? Tebow might actually look mildly attractive.
