Of all the things you can do on a NFL football field, throwing a punch at an opponent wearing a helmet is one of the dumbest.
Rams defensive end Chris Long has probably learned his lesson.
Things were getting chippy in the third quarter of the Panthers-Rams game. Panthers receiver Steve Smith, unsurprisingly, seemed to be one of the instigators. Then things boiled over in a scrum and Long lost his composure. He threw a punch.
He was ejected (obviously) and didn't hurt his intended target (obviously).
Long will probably have some regrets for that punch, and even more when the NFL fines him for it.
