Jim Mora says anyone would consider Lane Kiffin for an assistant coach opening (Video)

The coaching world sticks together, even when the two schools are rivals. Sure, there's the chance that the coaches let the rivalry affect their relationship, but that didn't have time to happen while Lane Kiffin and Jim Mora were coaching against each other.

Mora, the UCLA coach, was asked about Kiffin on the Dan Patrick Show Thursday. Kiffin was fired from his job at USC earlier in the season after a blowout loss to USC. Patrick first asked Mora about the process a coach goes through after dismissal -- Mora was fired from the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks. That's not looking like it'll happen anytime soon at UCLA. The Bruins are in the top 10 and a Rose Bowl berth is a possibility this season.

Then Patrick asked if he'd be willing to give Kiffin, who he considers a friend a shot on his staff at UCLA.

“Yeah, but I don’t have a position on my staff. I love my staff. I’ve got Noel Mazzone who is my offensive coordinator," Mora said. "In my opinion, he’s one of the best in the business. We’ve got great staff chemistry. If there’s ever a situation where Lane was available and he was interested and there was a position available, he’s a guy that I think anyone would want to consider. He's a really good football coach."

Kiffin was dismissed after USC had gotten back to the airport in LA following the 62-41 loss to ASU. In its first game under interim coach Ed Orgeron, USC beat Arizona 38-31.

After stints with the Raiders, University of Tennessee and USC, Kiffin is likely to get a shot somewhere else, and it'll probably be sooner rather than later as an offensive assistant.
