Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman on Patrick Peterson: ‘He’s a way better athlete than I am’

Seattle Seahawks standout Richard Sherman is never shy about proclaiming he is the NFL’s best cornerback.

Sherman is also not afraid to give another cornerback a compliment.

Seattle will play against Arizona on Thursday, and the NFC West battle features Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson and Sherman, arguably two of the NFL’s best cornerbacks. Both cornerbacks have boasted about being the best at their position, but Sherman gave his competitor a compliment earlier this week.

“He’s a way better athlete than I am,” Sherman told ESPN.com. “He moves better and he’s faster. He has so much speed that it allows him to play a little differently than I do. I have to play straight technical football. He gets to play a little looser because he can recover in a flash and get back in a play.”

Sherman said Peterson was a better athlete, but never professed that made the Cardinals standout a superior cornerback. Yes, it is a technicality, yet, important to put Sherman’s praise in the right perspective.

Regardless, both cornerbacks are extremely talented, and NFL fans will see two of the best at their position on Thursday.

Which cornerback is better?

It all depends on which player you ask.
