Division III Gallaudet University stays undefeated after last-second FG block for touchdown (Video)

(Matthew Kohashi)

It seems like every week a team outside of the FBS makes a play that’s worth a look and this week the play comes from Division III’s Gallaudet University.

With two seconds remaining and Gallaudet tied 34-34 with Becker College, Becker kicker Dejahn Hawkins lined up for the game-winning 31-yard field goal.

However, the kick is blocked by Gallaudet’s Chris Papacek and picked up by teammate Ryan Bonheyo who takes it 79 yards the other direction for the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

It was a fantastic play in what has been a fantastic season so far for Gallaudet, the nation’s only deaf and hard of hearing university, located in Washington D.C. The program is now 8-0, the best start in school history, and currently has a 10-game winning streak dating back to last season.

With two games remaining, Gallaudet is on the cusp of winning its first Eastern Collegiate Football Conference title and earning its first-ever men’s team berth – any men’s team - in an NCAA tournament.
