Despite Penn State’s up and down season, junior receiver Allen Robinson has been having a record-setting year.
In the Nittany Lions’ 24-10 loss at Minnesota, Robinson set the Penn State single-season receiving record in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard pass from freshman Christian Hackenberg. The reception moved Robinson past Bobby Engram, who caught 63 passes for 1,084 yards in 1995.
Robinson now holds the school records for receiving yards and receptions in a season. As a sophomore last year, Robinson hauled in 77 catches, and he’s on pace to break that record again.
Robinson finished the game with seven catches for 63 yards to bring his season total to 73 catches for 1,106 yards and six touchdowns. He notably made a leaping 36-yard catch to help Penn State upset Michigan earlier in the year.
Robinson would have to return for his senior year to surpass Engram’s record for career receiving yards (3,026), but Robinson could potentially be a high-round NFL draft choice, so that will be something to monitor after the season.
