Spotted: Alex Rodriguez is on the Miami Hurricanes sideline

(Getty) In between appearances at his appeal hearing and preparing statements ripping Major League Baseball, Alex Rodriguez still has a little free time on his hands. On Saturday night, he spent that time on the sidelines rooting for the school he committed to prior to his big league days, the University of Miami.

Of course, A-Rod never suited up for the Hurricanes after being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1993, but his connections to the school, as well as several other former Hurricanes players being investigated in the Biogenesis mess — including Ryan Braun — as kept that relationship fresh in our minds.

And A-Rod, never one to shy away from attention, made sure we didn’t forget the connection with his strong show of support for 'The U' during their major college football battle with Florida St. on Saturday night in Tallahassee.

Here are a few candid photos of the controversial superstar as he looks on from the Miami sideline.

Looks like he was having fun. Well, at least until he realized Florida St. is the real deal and Miami has their hands full.

OK, so he's mostly just standing there and interacting with random folks every now and then. That doesn't exactly make for compelling news. But he is A-Rod after all, which means he's always worth monitoring just in case.
