The agony and ecstasy of DeAndre Jordan: A story in two parts (Video)

Since we, like Agent Hobbs, like our dessert first, the ecstasy — an outlet, sprint and exhilarating stuff:

And now, the bummerific Brussels sprouts, which come at — you guessed it — the free-throw line:

Just a bit short, DeAndre Jordan. Juuuuuuuuuuust a bit.

Jordan grabbed 17 rebounds — including 10 on the offensive glass, which seems like a ton but is something that has apparently happened 605 times since 1985, so I guess I need to Step My Not Getting Impressed Game Up — in 41 minutes in the Los Angeles Clippers' impressive 126-115 win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. He also, however, went 3 for 12 from the charity stripe, giving him a robust 28.6 percent mark through two games — a full 10 percent below his woeful 38.6 percent rate last year, and nearly half his career-best accuracy of 52.5 percent two years ago.

The Clippers are going to need an awful lot of shot-deterring, defensive organizing, board-crashing and transition mayhem from Jordan to make up for shooting like that, especially if they're to have any chance of reaching the championship heights to which they aspire this postseason. Whether he can actually provide it remains to be seen, but at least the process of watching him try ought to provide some soaring highs and dramatic lows, often separated by just a few minutes of game time.
