Redskins tight end Fred Davis admits to sleeping during team meetings

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has dozed off in team meetings, which is something many people can identify – or sympathize – with.

Freely admitting you have done it around your boss is where Davis will lose most people.

"I've never slept through a whole meeting, but I've nodded off,'' Davis told Jim Corbett of USA Today Sports. "I mean everyone nods off. It's dark in there. You nod off You wake up — go get something to drink and go back.

"I've done that.''

There is a reason why Davis seems willing to alienate himself from Washington’s coaching staff.

Davis was recently demoted by Washington and inactive in the past two games. That is why when Davis was asked if he wanted to be traded before the deadline this past Tuesday, he did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction.

"Definitely," Davis told Corbett. "If I was on another team, you'd see what I can do."

After those comments, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan may not allow Davis to see the field again this season.

Davis, a six-year veteran, has only three catches for 25 yards and lost his job to rookie Jordan Reed. It is a dramatic drop in production from a player who had 59 receptions for 796 yards and three touchdowns in just 12 games during the 2011 season.

Washington’s disgruntled tight end signed a one-year deal prior to this season and will earn $2.5 million from his signing bonus and base salary, plus potentially receive up to $1.25 million in incentives. However, he would lose $500,000 of that if he's inactive for five games, according to Corbett.

Davis might as well go back to sleep.
