Burnley mascot sent off for trying to give linesman a pair of glasses

Burnley gave QPR their first loss of the season and took first place in the Championship, but the day was not without its sacrifices for The Clarets. Just 15 minutes into the match, with the score still 0-0, Burnley mascot Bertie Bee was sent off by the referee after his attempt to give the linesman a pair of glasses.

Bertie's punishment would get worse, though. The club's official Twitter account tweeted and deleted a picture of Bertie locked up inside Turf Moor while Danny Ings, perhaps inspired by the harsh treatment of the bee, went on to score twice in the second half to give Burnley a 2-0 win.

This isn't the first time Bertie has sacrificed himself for the cause. He once took down a naked pitch invader with a move worthy of the WWE when stewards could not get the job done.
