Vikings’ Cordarrelle Patterson ties longest play in NFL history with 109-yard kickoff runback

Minnesota's quarterback situation this year is a trash fire on a wrecking train, ugliness that you don't want your children to see. The Vikings' Cordarrelle Patterson made sure that the QB matter is, for at least a moment, a moot point, taking the opening kickoff 109 yards for a touchdown.

That's literally the longest an NFL play can possibly be, meaning that Patterson, who stood under the goalposts with his feet inside a yard from the back line, tied an NFL record.

Strangely enough, the only other 109-yard play in NFL history was also pulled off inside the Metrodome. In 2007, San Diego's Antonio Cromartie ran back a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown. Here's that play:
