Heisman Watch Week 9: Marcus Mariota, Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston lead pack

It's a three-man race.

However, deciding which of those three men is leading is becoming quite difficult. Every week, Marcus Mariota, Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston all continue to play at a high level. And while Mariota is probably at the top of the list because of his passing and rushing numbers as well as his ball security, there's a strong sentiment toward Manziel and Winston who continue to put up Heisman-caliber numbers as well.

So, it's going to come down to how each player plays against its remaining competition and how good those remaining teams are.

Mariota just beat a ranked UCLA team and plays Stanford this week, a likely ranked Oregon State team in a couple weeks and possibly another ranked team in the Pac-12 championship game. Manziel will play ranked LSU and Missouri teams in back-to-back weeks to end the regular season.

Winston's last showcase game will be this week against a Miami team that nearly lost to Wake Forest this past weekend. If Winston has a strong game against the Hurricanes, people will take notice. But he might fall off the map with Wake Forest, Syracuse and Idaho as his next three opponents before the rivalry game against Florida and a possible second meeting with the Canes.

In the end, it's going to be who makes the best impression last. Manziel won the Heisman last year by beating Alabama last in the season and could sway opinion again with a strong showing against LSU toward the end of the year.

Here's Dr. Saturday's Heisman Watch for Week 10:

Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

Mariota needed a big game against a ranked opponent to justify the Heisman love he's been getting and he delivered in a big way. He completed 75 percent of his passes for 230 yards and a score. However, for the first time this season, Mariota didn't have a rushing touchdown. Still, he helped his team turn a 14-14 halftime score into a 28-point blowout.

Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

Even an injured Johnny Manziel is a Heisman-caliber Johnny Manziel. Manziel came into the Vanderbilt game with a bum shoulder – and the possibility of not playing – but completed his first 10 passes and led his team to a score on its first drive. He continued to have a Manziel-like day with 305 yards and four passing touchdowns. Manziel's numbers continue to be better than they were a year ago.

Jameis Winston, QB, Florida St.

A week after a stellar performance against Clemson, Winston had a superb encore by leading his team to 35 points in the first quarter against N.C. State. Winston threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns in just over a half of work. Winston will have a chance to really take command of the Heisman race with another strong performance against Miami this week.

Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor

Seastrunk rushed for 109 yards and a score against a weak Kansas defense, but he managed to keep his yards per carry at an impressive 9.1 staple. Seastrunk has now had 100-yard performances in six of his seven games and he's scored a touchdown in all but one game. The schedule does get more difficult next week with a contest against Oklahoma.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, L'ville

Bridgewater knows he has to put up ridiculous numbers against his remaining weak schedule to ensure an invite to New York and he had a great outing against South Florida. Bridgewater completed 86.2 percent of his passes for 344 and three touchdowns. The loss against UCF still hurts his Heisman chances, but if he can inflate his stats, he'll at least be at the ceremony.
