Robert Griffin III gets pounded into the turf, holds knee, gets pulled from game

Robert Griffin III looked fine on the sideline. There's probably no reason to worry about his health.

But from now on, anytime Griffin grabs his knee on a football field like he did against Denver, there will be plenty of concern.

The Washington quarterback was drilled to the turf by Denver lineman Terrance Knighton on a fourth-quarter interception. Griffin grabbed his left knee (not the one he injured in a NFC playoff game last season), and trainers came out to see him. On the sideline, Dr. James Andrews checked him out. Redskins fans probably threw up a little bit.

Again, Griffin looks OK. He hopped up off the trainer's table when the Redskins got an interception, ready to go back in the game. The Redskins told Griffin to sit it out, which made sense considering they trailed by 17 points with less than five minutes to go. He could be seen on the sideline talking to coach Mike Shanahan, and one has to assume he was asking to go back in the game. Kirk Cousins finished out the 45-21 loss.

So Griffin, who was walking around on the sideline after the injury, seems to have avoided a serious injury. He was talking to his teammates and showed no signs of being in pain. But after his ACL injury last season, every time he doesn't get up right away there will be a bit of panic in Washington.
